Wink New here from Germany....

Hi @ all !!!!

I just bought an 66 Cutlass Supreme and try to fill the days of waiting for the ship from amerika with getting some information about the car.

A very important information I need is a data-sheed with everything I need for the german registration, like length, hight, weight, engine size and so on.... Does anyone know where I can get this ???

Seems that i cannot get photos in here, but it is an limousine (4Door) with the rocket 425-engine.....

Can be seen in Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=200294358944

Wilkommen Alex.

I think it is something like

"Welcome Alex. my name is Jesse, and I was in Germany in 2000 and 2001. I worked in Alfdorf, in close proximity to Swabian Gmuend. I have not spoken german for a long time, it is great the interest for oldsmobiles one in Germany has. "

Welcome Alex... this car should be great on the autobahn....

Right on Eddie. I was just trying to make Alex feel welcome and use a little bit of my German. It is rusty, but like a bicycle once you know how to use a skill it comes back to you when you need it to.

Sorry, I missed your request for the data. I should be able to get it from one of my reference books tonight if someone doesn't beat me to it. No usually we don't need too much data to register the cars, the vins are what are most important. Each state sets requirements for vehicle registration, not the federal governnemt.

Alexxx,

Here are your specs.

shipping: weight 3,255 US pounds
wheelbase: 115 inches
overall length: 204.2 inches
Front tread width: 58 inches
Rear tread: 59 inches

425 engine: cast iron block, 4.125 inches bore, 3.975 inches stroke, compression ratio 10.25:1, rated brake horsepower 310, 5 main bearings, hydraulic valve lifters, Rochester 2GC carburetor (two barrel). NOTE, this engine does not show as being standard for the f85 (Cutlass) line in 1966 so your engine may have been a special order which it seems was possible.

Hope this helps you out.

Welcome, Alex! Now, since Jesse responded in German, does that mean if we get a response on the site from Karamursel, Turkey, that I have to respond in Turkish? Was stationed there 1962-64, courtesy of the USAF! Top Secret stuff going on, don'cha know!!!

Unhappy

A 425 should not have been available for the f85 in 66. That engine is likely a transplant.

Hi Alex and welcome from Idar-Oberstein! That's southwest of Bad Kreuznach in the Oberpfalz.
That engine is most definitely NOT original! Thebiggest engine Olds put in a Cutlass thru 1967 was in the 442, and it was a 400 cu in 345HP. That's what mine is & it's a matching number VIN, motor block & heads!
Having said that, if you want to register it as an "Oldtimer", you should be able to use the data from the 400 cu in, since the German inspectors don't know much about the cars.
Am Beispiel meiner: Serie: 350PS, 6555ccm, 597 Nm.
Tatsaechlich: 429PS, 6735ccm, 640Nm! The motor has been completely rebuilt and maximized with performance parts available during that period!
Wenn's hilft, kann ich die Daten mailen! Komplett m. Kopie v. Brief/Zulassung!
Dies wuerde vermutlich ein Einzelabnahme unnoetig machen! Spart sehr viel Geld!
Also: check out www.dr-mustang.de. They not only deal with Mustangs & Ford, but they have sections for all US cars, plus they have an entire section of tips on importing & getting the car ready for inspection!
Their annual meeting is 25 & 26 July in Oberhausen at the Centro Mall. Stop by! I'm "Z28 Heritage" on dr mustang.
Gruesse u. allzeits knitterfreie Fahrt!

Hi Ralph,

yes, we are the ones from dr-mustang, there called "lefthaender"
I did remember the pic of your Olds when you introduced it at dr-mustang a few months ago, and i tried to find it out again, but without success
Nice to see you here with your beautiful Olds
Can you tell me what`s your user-name at dr-mustang?
(it`s a little bit easier to write in german )
Maybe we`ll see us one day on a german meeting? (die Oberpfalz ist ja nicht soo weit weg...)

Grüße, Claudia

Hi Ralph, Congratulations!!!
Your second car is very very nice, too!

Is it your son sitting beside you? He looks very proud
My son is in love with beautiful old cars too, he`s driving a yellow 73 Opel GT.
The photos show our cars (the Olds and the red Mustang) driving to Offenburg with some friends in june to the "Regiomotoclassica".

Very nice pictures are also shown on http://americanmuscle.de/09/offenburg/offenburg09.html, shot by Dejan who`s father drives a 64 Olds

Liebe Grüße, Claudia
