Dynos?
I have a 1970 Cutlass S with a 455 engine. I am unsure of how much horsepower it has. It has been modified with an Edelbrock racing carburetor and some other things that I can't think of off the top of my head. Does any one know where I can find a Dyno in South Texas specifically the Harlingen area? Or, I would be satisfied with knowing how much hp a typical 445 would output.

Depending upon the year, which could determine the carburetor (4 or 2 bbl), the heads (about five different ones), and exhaust, I think the advertised hp ratings were between 280 and 365. For a 1970 model I think it was 310. Someone verify that please, working off memory.

Advertised HP was exactly that.
Beginning in about '54, HP numbers began to be related more to marketing needs, than to actual power output. Quote:
As far as a dyno goes. Your local machine shop/engine builders should know where they are. Any race tracks, drag strips, off road courses, lakes, etc, where you can find racing engines and their owners? Norm |
