51 Rocket 88 Carb & Trans linkage

HELP -
I need help with my 1951 Olds Rocket 88 with Hydromatic. My car was "Mickey Moused" with the wrong carb and some homemade "bailing wire" linkage. I'm looking for information and photos on how the stock carb and trans kick down linkage SHOULD be set up and adjusted. In addition, how was the stock automatic choke set up? Can anyone hook me up with some technical details THANKS! granddaddy-O

A service manual might help. I just dont understand why people buy 50+ year old cars and wont spend another 20 dollars for a used, greasy, dirty and abused service manual. This has everything you will ever need and more - plus its good bathroom reading material

Thanks for the prompt replies. I have ordered a Service Manual and I am waiting for delivery, however, finding one for twenty bucks was not possible. I had hoped that someone from this forum would have had some "real world" knowledge and provided some expert guideance. Guess not?

Again, THANKS!
