World's Rarest Auto?

Hi: My Ford friend, Tom Howard from Riverside, CA. sent me this in an email...

World's Rarest Auto

The world's rarest automobile. A 1954 concept old's Rocket F88 - the only one in existence. (read the story below) John S. Hendricks, (Discovery Communications founder) paid in excess of 3 million to acquire.

1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Convertible Concept Car

After spending decades as a collection of parts stuffed into wooden crates – the F-88 was reassembled.

In 1954 – the F-88 was a Motorama “Dream Car” and was one of only two – or an unconfirmed possible three ever created. The F-88 seen here is literally the only car left of its kind – and was sold to John and Maureen Hendricks at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale , Arizona for an unbelievable $3,240,000. This acquisition made automotive history and is the “cornerstone” of the Gateway Colorado Automobile Museum in its own special room in a rotating display worthy of the F-88!

This is one good lookin' Olds!!!
I wouldn't say that this vehicle is the world's rarest auto, but I would say that it's sure a nice looking Oldsmobile! You won't see one of these everyday!

Hi Craig: It was great to meet you at the CDN Olds Nationals this past weekend. It's too bad that we couldn't have hung out more!
See you again soon,
Jaybird

Beautiful car, looks like it copied a lot of styling cues from the 53 Skylark and Corvette.

That was one of Harley Earl's personal cars. His family was on stage when the car sold at BJ. Beautiful car.

I've often wondered if the F88 was close enough to a 53 Vette to use one of the repro Vette bodies to make an F88 clone.

I am 99% sure I saw some picks on one of these forums of someone hand crafting a clone - that is one beautiful car. The color is just unbelievable!!!

Not a clone this will be the 1957 F-88.
This is not my project but is being put together a few miles from my house.

Man that is a car that should have been built. With the 303 V8 it would have creamed the vette
