And I agree with Oldsfan...I generally keep my mouth shut when I don't care for anything. (generally). I like stockers, and modifieds. See, with my cars, I generally can't afford to purchase anything nice. So, I wind up with a pile of junk. Restoration costs a lot of $$, especially when the "rare" parts have already been scavenged off. It's much more cost effective for me to build a period "custom" than to try and restore...not to mention...I like customs better anyhow. |

Another '62 Sport Sedan? I take you already bought it. Cool!
Now you have a decision to make - which one are you going to do first? Paul

Be careful! Those things will multiply if you let them get too close to each other. Then you'll have this: (See picture)
On a more serious note, I also was quite offended by the tone & implications of the post that Oldsfan discussed so succinctly. I concur with Oldsfan's well-thought comments 100%. I too take great pride in my collection of stock cars, & enjoy helping other folks with their cars, stock or not. Regardless of background, education, or occupation, most car guys I've met have a common thread running through them that transcends a lot of other stuff. That makes the post in question all the more disappointing. It was an unprovoked slap in the face that was thoroughly inappropriate. If it was meant in jest, I'd hope an apology is forthcoming. If not, I'll have plenty more to say at a later time. Chuck Last edited by Starfire61 : 05-13-2008 at 07:27 PM. |

I didnt intend to offend anyone - I wanted to compliment hudsoncustom for having the balls to do something different from stock. Please answer this - when was the last time did you see a modified '62 full size with shaved door handles, shaved emblems, maybe a dual quad, etc?? I can tell you this - I have never seen one in person. So if chalk marks on the firewall get you excited, more power to you

Check out this link from Oldsfan's site:
http://home.comcast.net/~oldsfan/MySite/boynton.html I've seen this car in person & it is stunning. It's come a long way since these photos were taken. The photos themselves truly don't do it justice, as the care & craftsmanship that have gone into it are top-notch. The owner has done a remarkable job. It has the look of a modern, Foose-type rod, but is still unmistakably Olds, as it preserves the original lines & 394 engine. I sure hope he gets it finished before this summer's cruise season ends- I have a few local buddies all with '62 Oldsmobiles, & we'd love to get this car out to a cruise with us. hudsoncustom,
I can relate to your situation, not enough money to do it all the way. I try to realize that and generally keep away from the cars (and parts) that truly have potential for a full body off frame restoration. If I see a set of original behind the back seat hand grabs for my '46 I pass them up for a retorer, my custom won't need them.

Your intent had nothing to do with anything. There was nothing offensive in the post.

Stock '62 Olds rims are 14". If you get stock '62 spinners, you should be good. Stock spinners are held on with special clips that you will most likely need to buy from Fusick Automotive.

Here you go, Filip. This is from the November 1961 issue of the Service Guild Training Manual. The Service Guild was a monthly supplement for Oldsmobile technicians. It's important to know that the last three issues of the year generally apply to the following model year. If you were to get a set, October through December of '62 will heavily apply to the new '63 models. You'll also want to track down October through December of '61.
