Parting 1973 Olds 98 4 door
Parting out a 1973 Olds 98 4 door. Some items have already been sold, but here's a few photos when I got the car home. Let me know if there's anything your interested in as I'll not be able to keep it long. Maybe another week or two then it will be going to the big melting pot in the sky. John

Is it equiped with a TH400? If so, how about the kick down switch and plugs? The attached to the switch at the pedal, and the one attached to the trans?

Hello Bill
I pulled off the switch yesterday but wanted to be sure before I cut any wires. Your looking for the plugs with a pigtail for the kickdown switch at the gas pedal and the plug with pigtail at the transmission, correct? John

The radio panel is good, although the letters and chrome around the edges is worn. The ash tray, I tried to remove these from a 1971 Delta and found there's an unsual clip that holds it in. I broke them trying to remove them from the 1971 so I'll try to remember what it was and be careful on this one. I'll post photos once I get them out. John
Also... I don't know if you want to stay original but the factory AM/FM from this car works. I tested it before tearing into the dash. John

Bill, here's the kickdown switch and pigtail. I still need to crawl underneath to get the end of the transmission. I cut these wires where they entered the harness bundle. Do you need the bracket with the gas pedal assembly?
![]() gthmcty1 here's the radio panel and ash tray door with clips. I did break two small pieces out of the panel removing the ciggarette lighter for someone else. I got the ash tray out without damaging the plastic pins or clips. Your in Southern California if I remember right, how does $20 to your door sound? That's about $12.50 for the parts and $7.50 to ship. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm pretty sure the gas pedals in my cars already have the holes in them for the switch. Just need the the pigtail from the trans and what you have pictured. Thanks

That's what I tried to pull for someone else. Those green lenses are very brittle and being as careful as I could I still broke them!
Paypal is the safest way for both of us. I'll send you the details in a PM John

Why is it that every time I find someone with the motor or trans or anything heavy that I need they're always on the other side of the country? Any idea what shipping would be on a motor, trans or both? I guess I got ahead of myself there, are you selling the motor/trans? And for how much?

seabeepirate I have a lot of extra motors but shipping is a killer if your very far away. I shipped a motor to Las Vegas a couple years ago, maybe 700 miles away. I believe the cost was around $250. So for a similar distance it could easily be $300 now.
I've been collecting Oldsmobile cars and parts for several years. They're still reasonably plentiful here, but that also makes it harder to sell/trade big heavy parts. I wish there was a way I could ship big heavy parts to the Mid-west and East Coast at a reasonable price! John

I'm in Ohio so that's no good. I've got a lot of options I'm exploring, but it will probably take a while before I can find the motor and trans I'm looking for.

delmontcruiser, I think it's a 1973, possibly a 1972. I'm sure its not a 71 or 74. Sad to see a car like that fading into the weeds!

1973 Olds 98 parts
Last shot at parts for this one. I have a guy wanting to buy my yellow 1967 Cutlass project car and we're talking a package deal with the 455 in this car. He would be taking whats left of the Olds 98 with it. Anyone looking for interior, sheetmetal, trim items let me know soon. John

If the front clip is original, its a 1973 Delta 4 sure. That was the only year the front end on the Delta looked exactly like that.

davesdelta, if it was the 1973 mine has a crack in the lens. Sorry. John
P.S. I still have the car! A local guy wanted to purchase a 1967 Cutlass Convertible, 1967 Vista Cruiser front clip less hood, 1967 2 door hardtop less engine/transmission, and the engine in the green car. I gave him a package deal price plus a discount if he would take the green car and not make me pull the engine. But.... I haven't heard from him in several weeks. Soon I'm going to have to pull the engine and get rid of the hulk, before my neighbors start to complain!!!

Medford is quite a ways down there. About 6 hours from Olympia? Its a trip i might have to make. I am not sure how else i can replace my windshield. A week after i bought the car i got hit by a rock. the Delta 88 makes it 37 years without a scratch..until i got my hands on it. Its toward the top of the windshield, and i have made it a couple of years now, but every time i look at it the crack just bothers the hell out of me. I am still looking around here, but i haven't found anything yet.

Skinny IL I crawled under the parts car and yes it does have 12 bolts on the inspection cover and a swell near the brake backing plate. I plan to pull the engine/trannie Sunday afternoon, after that I'll see about pulling the axles.
tribunicus, I'm more like 5-6 hours from Portland so it would be quite a road trip. I forgot to look at the windshield and see if there's any flaws but will do that tomorrow. If you were heading down this way for some other reason I'd give you the glass for free, but I think the gas would be way more than the windshield is worth. Any luck with a new windshield from the local glass companies? John

hi. I own a 1971 Olds Delta 88 4 door and it has postless windows. I was wondering would it be possible for you to take off the rubber seal that is on the front of the rear left door. When you close the front driver door, you can see where the back of the driver door lays against it. Also if this is a 4BBL car would you happen to have a good 4BBL air cleaner i need one for my conversion from a 2BBl to 4BBl. thanks

Gustav455, so your describing the piece that's attached to the glass of the rear door, and seals with the glass attached to the front? I'll look and if the rubber seal is good I'll try to pull it off. I think I have an extra air cleaner and will look this afternoon. John
