403 coolant

On the back side of the intake theres a "thing" (excuse my ignorance) that coolant will come out of, I think a heater hose connects to it but im not sure, can this "thing" be blocked off if not needed??

so i found out that the "thing" is a heater control valve, is it ok to block it off?

yes. If you do not plan on having heat in your car. Eliminating heat will cause you some fogging issues on a chilly morning.

Basically one side of the heater core runs into the nipple on the water pump, and the other side connects to that valve. If you block that off, then you will have to block off the water pump side as well.
