That is one good looking Cutlass. My 88 Cutlass is mostly orginal with 198000 miiles on it. I got the car new. Pictures are in the technical and reference forum. A 455 would require some cutting...A/C or not. A guy I work with has done it in a 85 Cutlass. I am happy with the mods I have done with mine, A different cam. different gear and Hypertech performance chip. Good luck and keep us up to date on what you are doing

Sorry to report I haven't done much with the '86, YET, other than drive it around the neighborhood every week or two. Can't wait to hit up a few shows this summer to keep learning about these cars. I still get on here at least once a week if not every other day.

I know this is a little late, but if you are still wondering what to do with the engine i would throw a buick grand national engine in there.

Find a good running low mile Olds 403 engine. Regasket the engine, change out the plastic timing chain gears & chain with new ones & then add a mild cam & new lifters. Reinstall your existing intake manifold & carb. Done.

This can be accomplished for under $1000 & your time. This will be the most bang for your buck. Your 442 will run the way it should have when new.
