BFGoodrich (PERFORMA GT ??)
B2MF L9DM

B2 - date = 1st week of 1971
MF - manufacturer & plant = GOODYEAR Los Angeles, CA
L9 - size = G70-14
DM - type = fiberglass belted with "white stripe"

can you ad pics of the complete tire & tread? how about the wheel and the date codes by the valve stem? what's the body build date on the cowl tag and completion date on the door sticker?

The car was built Feb 5th 71 at the Lansing plant. The spare is a BFGoodrich Silvertown Belted Wide. After owning the car 34 years - I can't remember ever seeing the paint/chalk marking on the raised white letter side spelling out - Goodyear and what looks like 442. Hey ya can't expect to know everything about your car in only 34 years. The rim has obvious hubcap markings (original wheels were 14X7 steel rims with hubcaps) so the tire was used but not very much it seems. Sorry, the data plate didn't come out very good.

Hurst68olds - Where can I (or did you) find the info to decode the tire date code info?

that is an interesting tire - first I've seen - thanks for sharing!

the first I saw of a Goodyear tire decode was ~2000 from Galen Govier in his "Chrysler Corporation Part & Casting Numbers Book 1962-1974 VOL. II"

since then I've seen Corvette crowd based info in print & more recently this: http://anghelrestorations.com/upload...tires_v1.3.pdf

looks like the "PLANT" may not be accurate in my above decode as Goodyear Los Angeles used "NE" in the above format & changed to "MF" in the following 10-11 digit format ????

here's a current DOT plant codes & location - I believe as some US plants were moved overseas, the equipment & DOT code moved with them http://www.harriger.com/tires.htm
