72 W30 Only Stamped W29 on Broadcast?
#2
My 74 350 Hurst has W30 on the broadcast card. That may have been generic code for a Hurst/Olds that year.
If sequence number matches the broadcast (mine does) I think you have a legit car. W29 for 442 and X for W30 engine.

Looks like you’ve got the best of both worlds for 1972, an X in the VIN, and W29 on the broadcast card. The former proof of W30, and the latter proof of 442 option.
I’ll take it if you’re not happy with it

W25 designation and decal started in 1975.
I think Olds used W30 on the broadcast on all 74 H/O to identify Hurst shops-bound cars. Not that Fisher Body really had to do anything except install front targa moulding clip studs which would have been the same as on a Landau roof car.The rear targa clips on all I've seen have been those screw-in jobs, and the quarter window blanks are just galvanized sheetmetal pop-riveted on. And y'all thought Hurst took special pains with these cars.
California emissions are what made the 74-75 350 H/O cars happen. 455 was not emissions certified in the A-body for California, so in order to sell Hurst/Olds in that lucrative market, the 350 appearance package cars were made.

I'm sure 33 comes from 28 + 5. A lie told twice is corroborated.

28 or 33
I do recall that there was no breakdown of the 23 hardtops as to how many of the alleged 23 had sunroof or not.
I know there were some built as there are several HOs on the X code VIN spread sheet that I have been compiling for decades and recently merged data with Mark Prince.

X code broadcast card
This matter has been discussed on Facebook Olds pages many times and the consensus was that W-30 is not stamped on the broadcast cards.
On your broadcast card what box number shows W-30? Could you share a photo of your broadcast card? Thanks.

My June 72 built 72 W-30 only had W-29. I just had a quick look through my photo files at numerous cars for which I have photos of the broadcast cards and not one has W-30 stamped on it.
