New to me my next cruiser 70 442
Sold the 69 HO a few years ago to build a shop. Finished the shop and finally found a new olds ride. I also have my dads old 79 bug convertible, but I needed more than 48hp…lol
I was looking for a 69 or 70 cutlass or 442, needed to be a rust free machine. This one is solid, all original metal in it and appears to be accident free. Was in the same family since first purchased and came with 3/4 of the original window sticker which I thought was cool.
it’s a basic 70 442, Original Matador red, black bucket auto with air car.
came with the peg leg 3:23( will add a posi at some point.
block is original but fans was swapped out. Engine has J heads( puke) and an Offy intake with edelbrock carb.
runs fine and good for cruising which is why I bought it. I did the keep it all original thing with the HO so this is ok to have a few non stock upgrades…
just getting to know it as I bought it last weekend….not even to first base with it yet..although I have been all over it’s under
carriage…
couple photos from the seller, I’ll have to upload new photos…
looking forward to some cruising with the big block again

thanks
Those pics are from the seller, the dads favorite color was red…hard to believe….
he also didn’t like stripes…..I’ll fix that though, the son gave me the stripes for the car that his dad did not want to put on…

It had saggy butt so I added leveling shocks, now the rear is just 1/4” higher than front with full fuel.
interior is mostly fresh but the dash pad has crack so looking to replace it …
Last 2 leveled out

Yes, thought the same thing, some where along the way they lost the right bottom but it at least it has all the options on the left and most of the prices…
it was folded up in the original owners manual…

Added the hood stripes that came with the car.
replaced the upper radiator hose.
and with some reviewing of old threads on here, after trying 2 new temp senders, I ordered the borg Warner wt203 and that seemed to do the job, my temp gage actually works now…I was almost going to order new gages..lol

Waiting for some 15x8 SSI wheels to be made, production has now slipped to October or later.
picked up these used 15x7 g body wheels to hold me over. Also have new rubber so I can cruise with confidence, the 18 year old tires had to go…

Nice ride! The right color too.
Those wheels just look RIGHT. Almost a Rallye 350 vibe w/no trim ring. I like it.
I put new 15" SS1s on my 68 a few years ago. Honestly, I'm on the fence about whether or not to go back to the body color SS2/3, in 15" if I can find 73-74 rims. I have a set of SS Cragars too. But all the wheel studs will need to be replaced...longer.
IMO...Keep the OAI delete. If you do go W25 go all the way down to the air cleaner. See how easy it was to spend your money.
Your garage really sucks!

I do like those SSI wheels on your car. The 69 does look good with the SSII. My favorite was the 69 HO wheels.
here is a 72 with the SSI in 15”, I think they work great on the 70-72 body.
haha, the garage is my 69 HO converted into a building…lol
now I can walk in it…

Picked up this original W25 hood. A future project to get this painted and installed. I do love these hoods so I broke down to get this one.
the stock hood is clean and sharp, but the W25 screems Oldsmobile!!!😜

Been working on restoring the underside of the W25 hood
it had some surface corrosion under the screen…what a pain to try and clean up but finally got it done.
i used some wire bristle brushes and pushed them through the factory screen and moved them around to get the corrosion off, just takes along time one little spot at a time…

The Dr was in…Finally got the W30 intake, Qjet and my air cleaner base on. Also added back an oil fill tube, new radiator hoses and clamps. It started and I have it idling but it’s snowing yet again…
