Washer bottle screws on 71 olds

Hi all,
What would be the correct bolts for the washer bottle.
Where they metal screw or just bolts with nut under innerfender ?

Thanks

Mine appear to be pointed black phosphate (hard to tell on 50+ year old screws) sheet metal screws, installed from inside the fender well, through the fender well liner, and threaded into the tabs on the washer bottle.

Mine were same as Kenneth's on my 1971 350 CS. The OEM screw part number is 9419380. You can cross-reference this screw part number w/ numerous manufacturers. As an example, AMK provides the following information pertinent to 9419380:
9419380-P103/128/153 1/4-14X3/4 3/8AF .5 O.D. AMK B-11104
I do not know if AMK continues to sell that screw as AMK part number B-11104; and, I don't know if the original OEM part number 9419380 was superseded by a later part number.

Whether your car is a 71 Olds w/ 455 or w/ 350, all screws for the washer jar assembly use the same 9419380 OEM part number.

1971 PIM

Note: Screw inserts from inside the fender well

Note: All 3 screws should be same (9419380). One of mine is NOT same because I really didn't care - I used a bolt & a nut, instead.

Also, in the drawing they are referencing to "engine with 35Y72" what is it ?
And it would be great to see page 136 of that book for jar location with "35Y72"

Thanks a lot

U.P.C. 35Y72 = H.D. Gen & Engine Cooling
Regardless of either location or engine size, all washer bottle assemblies used the same part number.

Thanks Vintage chief, and is there a good way to tell if the car was equipped with 35Y72 ?

Yes, by identifying the alternator part number.

This is why it is to your benefit to purchase & own the 1971 GM Oldsmobile Product Information Manual (PIM) AKA the Factory Assembly Manual (FAM).
You can buy from Hairy Olds >>> https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...2/#post1533058

From the 1971 PIM
Identify your alternator based upon engine configuration i.e. 350/455, std/pwr steering, AC/noAC, etc. You'll be able to also identify the codes for each car/model and R.P.O. options (front of the PIM).

OK thanks for the info. I'll be checking for that book.

I replaced my washer bottle on my 71 with a repop but one of the three tabs didn’t line up as original, instead of drilling another hole through the fender well I just left that screw off. It’s only held on with two screws and seems be fine with two holding it. Did anyone else have this problem?

9418380 superseded numbers:
9419967
11502704
11508797
11504115
12338139

All have been discontinued by GM but may be out there via 3rd party suppliers, such as ebay and other sellers.

Supersession numbers are simply a HWH bolt, meaning they have a hex head with a formed in washer into the head, eliminating the need for the separate washer. So if you want to be concours, you'll need the original style 8380 bolts. GM made the bolts (more correctly, had the vendor make them) to fit and function as originally engineered, not look exactly like the production parts.

AMK no longer sells the B-11104 apparently. Their 9419380 cross-reference now shows a HWH screw with their part number B-12102 shown below. It seems it replaces Ford p/n 59914-S2 as well.

The 9419967 bolt is zinc plated, and has a phosphate counterpart, p/n 9425451 that's exactly the same size, 1/4 x 14 x .75". AMK part number cross-reference shows that as B-11431. But their part shows a hair longer at 7/8" long with a 1" washer under it as shown below. Possibly a good alternative if your wheel well holes are a bit larger due to wear, drilling mistakes, etc.

Doing a little search, Heartbeat City Camaro may have some B-11104 screws...if you really want that one. May want to check with them first.
