Got my manifolds back
I got them back from the powercoating shop last week.
Done in wrinke black to match my valve cover I had done last year and the lettering is in Mirror Red to match my intake tubing, also done last year.
I know you guys aren't into Aleros too much, but these intakes are P&P and smooth inside. The lower is a 2000 lower. this lower stock flows better than the 99 intake, ported, which I bought a ported 99 lower 6 years ago, back before this info was out.
Anyway. on a rough measuring of the intakes. where the lower and upper meet, the lower is about 1/16' of an inch bigger ports than the upper. The upper's TB opening is maybe 61.5mm vs the 62mm that the TB is, but I'm not sweating 1/2 a mm.
I know it's important to have the mani match the head, but the 2 manifolds? Should I take a dremal to the upper or not bother? Don't really know if the P&P upper and lower on there now are this way or not. I was really a n00b to modding cars back then, but the insides are SOOOOOOOOOOO SMOOTH, I know the ones on there now are not.
The car ran a best of 14.539 with the current P&P manifolds in which the lower is cracked slightly, causing a very small vacuum leak (my old mech did this, overtightened the bolts)
Anyway:::

Yes, I was just told over on 60degreeV6.com that the ports have to contain the "funnel" shape and grinding then incorrectly could take that away.
The Lower on the car now flows worse ported than the freshly powercoated one, stock, and the upper is not matched to the 62mm TB. Plus the lower has a very small crack causing a vacuum leak, and the car's still running mid 14's
There is no sparkle in the coating, that's my flash, and the black color helps heat transfer a little bit, very little, but it helps
