Engine block numbers

I have a 71 CS SX that has a replacement engine in it. It is supposed to be a 70 SX motor Does anyone know what these engine pad stampings mean?

Thanks

They mean that someone other than the factory stamped them. That is not a VIN derivative. You'll have to ask whoever stamped it what they mean; it is not a standard block stamp format.

If it is a replacement engine then it's really no wonder the block stamping is not the same as what came from the factory. It's likely a stamping from an engine remanufacturer, which means the engine could be built with just about any parts, and not necessarily what would be found on your car originally. What heads are on it?
