milodon 7 quart pan

I just bought me a new milodon 7 quart pan to replace the old one on my car. I was replacing due to the drop in oil pressure on hard acceleration. When I looked at the pan today it didn't look like what I was expecting. I was looking for a bigger baffle in the back than what's there. Does anyone have a pan like this that can tell me how well it does under hard acceleration. I'm hoping this fixes my problem.

You have to look around I have seen a baffle the someone builds that prevents oil from climbing up the back of the pan, it's an easy piece to find for a Chevy but harder to find for an Olds. Sorry I can't be more help but it's out there just don't remember who made it.

I was thinking about building me a baffle for the back of the pan and tack weld it in. Any advice for that?

I put a baffle in my toro pan like the stock 455 pans have. More for hard braking. Crappy welding job but it works and no one will see it.

If you can still return the Milodon pan, Canton makes a pan designed for road racing. I have the same Milodon pan and was also disappointed to find that the baffle isn't as well-designed as the one in a stock 455 pan. Unfortunately I'd already installed it before learning of the Canton pan.

I just bought a windage try for my motor. I figured if I'm gonna fix it do it right. That should solve all my problems shouldn't it?

I used the same 7-quart milodon oil pan with the windage tray and have on oil pressure problems under hard acceleration with my highly modified 455

I'm not gonna say mine is highly modified it's just a good street motor. I've heard that you have to get the blocked line honed if you use the studs for the windage tray cause the studs have a different clamping force. It's that correct?

Yes, you need to have line honed if switching from bolts to studs. So you may as well switch all 5 mains to studs.
I run the Milodon 30305 7qt. pan and have no oil pressure issues except under hard breaking at the end of the 1/4 mile. That's coming off the trans brake at 4500 with mid 1.30 60' and the wheels hangin'.
You need to look things over and figure if it is really an oil volume and uncovering the pick up or if the oil is getting trapped in the top of the engine and not returning properly. The windage tray may help. But it mostly helps get the oil back in the pan and out of the atmosphere inside the block. If you want one of the rear baffles that bolt under the oil pump and are to help keep oil from climbing the back wall of the pan I have them. Though I don't have one in my engine. I do plan on putting one in though because it can't hurt anything.

I've run my motor a half a mile before at around 4500 with no oil pressure fluctuations. It's only on hard take off when it drops. How much for one of those baffles. That's something I've been wanting so I dont have to do no machine work.
