Std volume or high volume oil pump?
Assembling by 455 this week finally
Previous owner had a Melling hv oil pump combined with a Moroso aftermarket 6 qt oil pan. I am going back with stock oil pan. Will the hv pump suck my oil pan dry? And it might be pertinent that my main bearing clearances are on the high side .0028 average.

With TH400, 3.42's, and 235/60/15's, my '67 is turning 3,100 RPMs at 70mph and it sounds like I'm inside a Rocket Ship (pun intended)! I can't even imagine running it at 5,000 RPMs!

Both my cars are four speeds and I run through the gears quite often shifting at 5500. That’s what they’re built for. That’s what I like to do.

Kenneth - Yes I have, but less than a half dozen times. I have never had the car on a track or open lot where I felt like I could open it up and take my attention away from my driving to watch the Tach at the 1st shift point. When the hard shift occurs from 1st to 2nd the car gets real squirrelly because the tires start spinning so much faster it's all I can do to keep her going straight. As I told Andy in a PM yesterday, the shift point is probably close to or even above 5,000 RPM's, I just don't know.

My HV pump came with two springs for the relief, one is for higher pressure which I installed.
it puts out 75-80 psi cold. It keeps me from getting on it until it’s warmed up though as a benefit…
I know some have just drilled a new hole for the retaining pin to increase spring pleasure also.
honestly I likely could have just used the regular one, but I am not disappointed in it’s pressure.
you likely will have good pressure with your clearance.
Maybe Mark would have some thoughts on the pressure springs.
