Master Cylinder cast iron appearance

Seeking recommendations to keep a new Power Brake Master Cylinder cast iron finish from rusting and looking fresh. Its already installed on the car so I'm not looking at cast iron spray paint. I've seen brush on CI grey, but only in quart cans. A good wipe down with WD-40?

Thanks.

I use satin clear from a spray can. Just be careful not to get brake fluid on the "paint."

I've heard that this stuff works great, haven't used it yet though:

WD40 does absolutely nothing to protect it,a better choice would have been brake caliper paint, cosmoline, boeshield even oil is better !

I would use varnish, applied with a brush. The varnish should have a satin finish.

I did what was done in post #3, about 5 years ago.....still looks like new.....FYI, I had the master cylinder off of the car when I sprayed it with the clear. As stated, brake fluid will eat the clear.

I've been using the Eastwood master cylinder paint. It's a little too metallic, so it doesn't really look like bare cast iron, but it does stand up to brake fluid.

That's good to know. I've tried several over past years and none worked. I always hear good things about Eastwood products. I might give this one a try.

I used the eastwood too. I sprayed it on the car. I used tinfoil around the brakelines and masked off the rest. It came out decent, and still looks good 3 yrs later. I cleared the booster. The master cyl was rusty looking like 72s before picture.

That looks excellent. Nice work. That's after three years? Sweet. Thanks for the image.
