Saw this ad a couple days ago. As soon as I had clearance from my CFO (Aunt Hulka?) I spoke with the owner. He's a really nice guy. It's just what I was looking for. I should be getting it tomorrow.
Definitely have to do something special for my wife. She's awesome! Another project and not one single complaint!

There's a 70 near me in about the same condition or a little rougher if possible. Check Cincinnati Craigslist. Blue car with white interior. Been wrecked in the front. Drivetrain is out, but owner says he has the engine.

The car is arriving tomorrow. I'm hoping it stays in one piece and survives loading, transportation & the unload. I'll post pics tomorrow.
The shortest/easiest way to get it here was via ferry. It saved over 120 miles round trip, but added $250 for the ferry.
Ouch!

She's home!
The car just arrived at the home for organ donors. She cost more to get her here than I had hoped/expected (ferry rates), but that's just the way it goes. Everything went according to plan and the seller was a really nice guy. He had to make the 3:30 ferry home so he couldn't stay for very long. He was sorry to see her go (he's owned her since '77) but knew she was beyond the point of no return. He knows my plans for her and was cool with her fate.
Oh man, this baby is beyond unrestorable. Such a shame, but it happens. Just before he left I asked him straight out if Hurricane Sandy had her way with the car. He assured me that he was inland enough and there was no flooding in his area. I believe him.
I've included some pictures. The trans is a '72 M21 and she looks beautiful. No cracks in the case or at the mounting ears. Inside the case. I saw no chipped teeth and the synchros looked good, with no blemishes that I could see.
The rear bumper was garbage, but he had a spare which although solid, needs to be rechromed.
The interior is what it is. I'll save the seats and the speedo. All the 4-spped stuff is present and will be pulled and stored for later.
Came with 4 SSIII Rally Wheels (an unexpected surprise) and are not that bad.
I'll pull whats left of the drivetrain and the glass (all date coded and decent). No time to really look under the hood, but she's all there (including the C heads).
Sadly, after I've taken off everything I bought her for, the carcass will go to her grave. A pitiful end to a once proud musclecar.
