1968 Cutlass S Convertible a/c/heat blower switch

Where can I order a replacement switch (rotary style) for the heat/a/c system? The switch only works on 2 of the 4 possible settings and we can't find it in the year one catalogue or anywhere else.

There are a number of aftermarket shops that sell reproduction pieces. If it is the literal switch that needs replacing, try rockauto.com. They have just about everything (hard parts) you will ever need for your ride. Plus there are regular discount codes. You can find the latest code by searching this site - there is a whole thread on the current code.

Good Luck!

It could also be that the resistor unit on the A/C housing may have a bad speed resistor. PN 588916.

I'm guessing you're talking about if the just the actual rotary **** itself is broken?

Is there an easy way to check that, or does it involve taking the dash apart?

The resistor is on the passenger side, under the hood, below the A/C plumbing, judt inboard of the hood hinge. Usually red base with four wire plug held in place with two screws. If you can check with a volt meter at each port on the plug for 12 volts in each speed, then you are able to determine if its's the switch or resistor assembly.

Which 2 positions work? If it is OFF and HI, then I agree that it is likely a bad resistor (which provides the proper current limitation for the LO and MED positions), or possibly just a bad 12V connection to that resistor.

'68 does not have an "off" at the blower switch.
