very rare olds if the partial vin is on the 455 and matches like you say.. as far as the hood that you added; the option code w25 could only be ordered for the 442 cars that i am aware off.
do the have the build sheet or any paperwork on the car?

Before we get off on a tangent here let's establish some preliminary lineage data to answer your questions.
Please provide:
1. Pic of the VIN
2. Pic of the engine casting number above the water pump
3. Pic of the engine serial # below drivers side head
4. Pic of the cowl tag
5. Pic of the tin trans ID tag on the passenger side.
6. Pic of and the partial VIN # stamped into the driver side pan rail of the trans
7. Pic of the head casting letter

No matter how it works out to be numbers matching, some one has done a lot of work on this car. That underside is fabulous.

And appears to have a number of non-original items.

Non-SX 455 Cutlass Supreme production was approximately 1200, there currently is no breakdown between hardtop and convertible

You are welcome. Thanks for sharing. Very nice! Extremely clean well done car.

20 C is a cool and not-so-common color combo. Not a big fan of Azure. I MUCH prefer the current blue. Looks Twilight blue. One of my shades for GM.

You are in the right place for Olds information. Ask away.

Beautiful car man! Hoping you’re in a climate where you can get that sweet big block convertible out every day and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing the additional photos. This site is chock-full of great people and great information, and you and yours look to be a nice addition. Welcome!

That's a really nicely done car overall. Great current color combo and options.

Based on my 20+ years of research and tracking for sx455.com (and prior), all 1970 455-equipped Supremes that were not SXes would have the L-33 2 barrel with OD TH400 trans, and were earlier in the build run. Yours is a January 1970 build so it lines up.

I have a section of the SX registry specifically for tracking 1970 factory 455 Supremes that are not Y-79 cars. Please PM me so I can get some info and add your car please.

Terry

It was built in Lansing. Most "special cars" W cars etc were built in Lansing. That is the M in your vin and on the block. Beautiful car. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to reading more.

When I was a kid I thought there was no such thing. One of my brothers dated/knew a girl with a black white top black interior 70 Cutlass not a 442 Ragtop with a factory 455 and a dual gate. Flat hood. Man I lusted after that car. She babied that car. Oh if only we could turn back the clock.

Yeah I’m wondering about that also. My 70 Supreme had a Dual Gate as option W-26 on the build sheet.

Curious about the wire color going to this water temp sensor shown in the attached picture?

Green wire to the water temp sensor, and blue to the oil pressure sensor ( w/rallye pack). A pic from my buddy's '70 442.

Very nice blue arm rest bench seat. I have one in my 70 442 thats is a blue bench power seat. Allways wanted to change to buckets but the trade off is one day my wife or sons girl friend can sit closer if so inclined.

The build date of 01D is close to my 70 442 build date as well. What i am concerned with is it has the same 455 block casting number but wth the Stick type F. not your Serif type F pictured. .
Wonder when the Serif type F blocks started to be used in 70.
I would double check your motor component build dates unless both were used.

I did find this info below that may or may not be correct but i asume its correct, Just a thought ; maybe they had both castings avail to go in 70 cars on the line.

. 68 - '70 455 396021 Common big block. Stick type F (sans serif).
F '70 - '72 455 396021 Common big block. Serif type F. Two vertical

lunaboy if I read your post correctly there have been sans serif F blocks documented with vin derivatives as late as 1973. Search sans serif F on this site as there is lots of information on this topic.
