Caution: NOOB on board!

Hi guys, just wanted to stop in and say HI! I just recently aquired a 1970 Cutlass Supreme for a $1000 from my sister-in-laws boyfriend. It came with a rebuilt Rocket 350 (that I had to install) with a 350 Turbo tranny. It has power steering, power disc brakes, air, power windows, dual exhaust, tilt steering, and a vinyl top. It does need bodywork which is something I do so that won't be a problem. I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome to the board. I spent a little time in the mid 90's living in Florisant and running the Super Shops store in Manchester. Saw some of the best hard core 8-9 sec car street racing I saw in my life back then.

All that's needed to determine what model you have is the VIN. Go outside, copy it down off the cowl, and come back in and post it.

Well, I posted that because this is at least the second different thread on this site where he has asked this question. Someone already told him before that all he needs to do is post the VIN. He keeps talking about being unable to post pictures, but, heck, even WITH pictures, it might not be possible to tell which specific Cutlass model he has.

It was a '71, I think. I used to work at a Precision Tune in SoCal, and a guy used to bring in his Cutlass for new plugs. We refused to do any real work on it, as it smoked so incredibly badly it would have killed us to drive it into the bays. Seriously. You could kill mosquitoes for blocks around just by driving it.

Anyway, he offered to sell it to me for $100 one time, just to get rid of it. I bought it, started fiddling around, replaced the plastic PCV valve with a metal one, and it quit smoking.

Of course, I also opened up the top end and scraped an eight inch pile of goop out of the thing, put in a new cam, lifters, and timing chain, dual exhaust, and drove it madly for a couple years before selling it for a couple grand.

We called it Mr. Toad.
