Engine Support Bar on 1968 Cutlass

I have an engine support bar that I've used on some newer cars but I'm not sure if the front end on my 1968 Cutlass S will support the weight of a 455. Has anyone used a engine support bar to suspend a motor in an A-body before. Thanks for the help again folks.

Typically that bar bears on the front fender reinforcements where the top end of the struts attach. There are no such reinforcements on A-body front fenders. I would not suggest using it. A floor jack with a block of wood under the oil pan works really well. Push against the corner of the sump. If you really want to do it the factory way, there was a Burroughs Tool support bar that went under the car and bolted to the lower bolts on the front cover to support the motor.
