Hi, so i ordered some nosr hood bumbers and the seller is sending me 3. Where does the 3rd one go. I looked all over the web and cant locate it.

Normally, the third bumper is for an OAI hood and is installed at the back on the firewall.

Two on each side of the core support and one in the back middle of firewall area on top.
Depending on what car your working on.

So which is it? Only for the nice hood? Or all hoods?

You only need 2 for the car you have. There is no 3rd hood bumper on a W29 steel hood 442. Keep it for a spare or donate it to someone who might be looking for one.

My 69 442 w/steel hood has 3, the 70 442 w/ original OAI hood only has the 2 at the core support. I'm sure someone with a 72 will chime in. My guess is 3 if a regular steel hood.

Edit: I just saw your pics on your newbie post. You have a center bumper at the rear.

Ya thanks guys. I looked at the rear by the air grilles and there is one the. The rubber part is a lot longer than the rubber on the front 2 tho. I think ill be getting 3 of the same kind. Its in good shape anyway so i aint worried about the back one.

I DO have a 72, and that's why I told him he only needs 2. That's all they used on that model year. Mine is bone stock in that capacity and it only has 2. Every one of the 71/72's I've seen at car shows is exactly the same - 2 only. I haven't looked at the cowl for an extra hole, but I will when I replace the cowl rubber seal. Chances are really good that since the cowls were identical from 68-72 Olds never changed the stamping or prep when the car was fabricated at Fisher Body Works.

Allan. I'm not sure on the 71-72's, but on my 70, there is no provision for the bumper
on the cowl, Adam.
