Hot air tube too short

I put an HEI in my 70 cutlass, had to raise the air cleaner 1 & 1/4” now the heat tube is too short. Anybody have any suggestions, I thought about using a flexible one, but like the original look.

You can make a relief in the back of the air cleaner housing to clear the distributor cap. It will require some welding and fabrication. There are some threads on here showing how other members have done it. Then you won’t have to use the spacer.

Could you extend the hot air tube a bit?

either add a cylindrical piece of sheet metal attached to the air cleaner or the tube?

Or is maybe the bbo tube longer and could be used instead.

Either would be easyto reverse in the future.

Thanks for the pics, that looks great. I was going to look for a piece of metal to make it longer. It seems to clear the hood. I threw a small Edelbrock one on for now, until I can fabricate something.

I was gonna change the crankcase breather that goes from valve cover to the air cleaner to an aftermarket one for now, anyone know what is the best size that will fit?
