Metal Dash Paint

Metal Dash Paint
Looking for info on the metal part of the dash. Need to paint it and can not find what type of paint it was or the code. I do not believe it was the same as the pad and would guess it was flat but want to make sure I get it done right. Anyone know for sure of the code and what paint?

Ditzler code (PPG Industries) for 1972 interior flat black was 9317 which I believe was used on the metal upper instrument panel and lower AC Valance panel. Semi gloss #9387 was used on Ash tray door, console door, steering column etc. That is what is listed on the back of the PPG paint code page.

Kace, The metal dash is a different type of paint. I just finished mine (black) and is a PPG laquer. PPG is the only one that does laquers (so I've been told) and has a flatener and a texture to it. Find an auto supply store that sells PPG and get your paint code to have them mix it. If you care to see mine the pictures are below

If you have the paint code, any automotive paint supplier should be able to mix paint in the correct formula for both metal and plastic.
I can tell you from experience, the hardest part of painting the interior is cleaning it. People really like to layer on the detailer on the dash and console. I use Comet bathroom cleaner and a scotch bright pad to clean and scuff the surface, and then lots of wax/grease remover. When you think it’s clean enough, do it again. First time I painted the interior of my car I was rewarded with fisheyes in the paint.
