My 64 F-85 Sport Coupe

I love this site!!

I am new to this site (just got signed up yesterday!) and wanted to share some pictures of my car. I still have to take some new ones of the inside (I'll include those later). What are the chances someone on this great site can help me figure out the production numbers for the Sport Coupe model?? I tried getting the info from the GM office but they don't have any details prior to 1977. It's not Canadian built so I can't get them from GM here. I hope the pictures aren't too big as I resized them to help with loading time. I posted all the details about the car in the newbie forum, but I'll repeat them there. It's Jade Mist Green with matching green interior with the 330 V8 and 2 spd Jetaway trans..

The car itself had 18,000 miles on it when my Dad purchased it in 2002. It now has 28,800. We had to change the front and rear springs and shocks as the suspension was tired. We have not had to do anything to the car since we bought it other than maintenance items. The interior looks like the day it left the factory. We were told that the lady who owned it never drove it in the rain or snow in NJ. She last registered the car in 1990 and the car was left parked. Apparently the husband tried to get the lady to order this car with the 4spd but she wanted the automatic instead. The spare tire was never installed on the car and still has the blue whitewall paint. The car came with a full set of bias ply wheels and tires that were on the car when it was removed from it's slumber.

The story on how we got the car is a bit more involved. My Dad always wanted to own a classic car like he had back in the day. He considered buying one to restore but he was working 10 hour shifts and knew he wouldn't have the time. He saw this one at an auction and fell in love with it. The seller had picked it up from an estate sale from the original owner's family and was just in the business of flipping cars. It came with tons of documentation. My Dad drove the car everytime the weather was nice and would take it to the occasional show.

My Dad became sick in Dec 2005 very suddenly with cancer and he told me he wanted me to have his car. I was restoring a 72 Plymouth Satellite Sebring to do car shows with him. I sold that car as there was no way I needed both. He passed away in Feb. 2006 the day before my birthday. I told him that I would do him proud and honour his memory with his car. I kept his personalized plates on the car (which have his name in them) and I keep a picture in the car of him at all times in the ashtray. The plan is to pass it down to my son or daughter once I am unable to drive it anymore. I sure hope that's a long way down the road though as I'm only 34.

Sadly some of the people I have encountered along the way look down on the fact that my Dad bought the car at an auction and didn't do all the work himself. I assure these people that I repair and maintain all my own vehicles and this one is no exception.

Sharp looking car you have there!
Saw one on craigslist this morning for short money. I might consider going to look at it but I don't have the room for it. It looks pretty beat up from the one picture. Besides, the wife might freak out if I did bring another car home. Oh well...

Here's the link if anyone's interested.
