What 2bbl carb do I need?

Your carb should have a 7 digit number stamped into the casting such as 7042156. This number can be decoded to tell year/make/engine which the carb was used on. It is good to stay with the original carb if possible since the linkage, fuel inlet and other things will line up perfectly. Other GM 2bbl carbs will mount to the intake, but you may have trouble getting everything connected properly. Also the original carb is calibrated specifically to your engine. Good luck.

Actually, that's the exact number that's stamped on my carb. I'll look around to see what I can find. I'm seeing new 2 Jets as low as $80 on eBay. I wonder what it'd take to make one fit.

If you have the right carb for your carb, get it restored and calibrated for the 10-15% ethanol fuel. Maybe some members can steer you to a good rebuilder. Also google: Rochester 2 barrel race carburetors. A competent race carb builder can also give you a nice street carb with quality parts. The only person I can recommend is Cliff Ruggles at Cliffs High Performance. Good luck.
