1871 detla 88

There weren't any Oldsmobiles in 1871.
Really, the only car that shares body panels with the 71 Delta 88 is the 71 98. You can get some parts from 71-76 B and C bodies but the most direct fit is from the 71 98. Post pics if you have them.

Looks like a nice car. Doesn't need much work.
I am 7 ft tall and I drive my 1971 Olds 98 with the bench seat all the way back and down. Of course, my 98 has the 8 way power seat. Perhaps you could get more movement in your seat if you replace manual seats with power seats.

You don't need new seats for your car unless you specifically want to go to buckets, or if your current seats are heavily damaged. If you want to go to power seats you will have to find a donor car. You could probably get a donor front power seat from a 71-76 Delta 88 or 98. The color and cloth pattern might be off but the mechanism is probably the same.

Fits right in. the 455 has the same width and length as the 350 just a higher deck height and will bolt up to the turbo 350. I would suggest that if you go with the 455 that you upgrade to the turbo 400 to handle the added torque of the big block which might cause you to move the transmission mount back and modify the drive line. Others who have made this conversion with chime in with more information.
Stay tuned for more thoughts on this subject, also look in the big block forum and the 88 forum for more detail on this common conversion

I put seats from a 2 door Olds 98 in my 1971 Delta Royal 88. Front seat is "split" with the drivers' side power, both front & back have arm rests. Seats are alot more "plush" than the Delta's. Oldsmobile 455 engine is the way to go, much less headaches. The 1971 and later Olds 88/98's (B&C bodies) are better driving/handling/stopping than 1970 and earlier 88/98's. I have both so thats just my own opinion. It looks like a nice car. Good luck, Ken

I hate to say it- but the Chevy motor has Olds beat in horsepower, weight, and efficiency. Not to mention parts availability and price. if dude is cutting you a good deal on that 454, and you don't care about the plant being non-original, this may be a good option for you. If I were dicking with putting a bowtie in it, though- I would go with the 365 HP solid lifter 327 SB. That is a running a** motor, even for a boat. Screaming redline, too.
