1964 Olds 88/98 gas tank interchange???
Does not appear that ANYONE sells a new gas tank for '62-'64 full size Oldsmobiles. (I think they are all the same)
I had an idea....a 1964 Chevy full size tank, looks almost the same, except for no filler neck.
Has anyone looked at using one of these?? Are the dimensions close enough to do some modifications??

Mine has SO many tiny rust holes. My friend said he would fix it, but if I can spend $100 and get a brand new one, that is certainly the way to go.

According to the 1972 Olds parts book the same part number gas tank can be used on all 61 thru 64 models except F-85 and station wagon.
They do also mention that a different vent tank be used on 61 & 62 models and that 64 gas caps are different.
According to a discussion in 2012 the Chevy tank will not work. Too thick.

Charlie Jones, I normally do some surfing around, before creating a thread such as this one. Thanks for doing the legwork, for me. Orlando has a GasTankRenu, shop about 30 minutes from me. He has done 2 other tanks for me. ie...1960 Olds Super 88 and a 1968 Cadillac DeVille. Charges were right around $400, if memory serves me. My budget is blown, on this project, so attempting to find the cheapest way to get it done. Will not sacrifice quality, would rather just wait and do it right. Guess I am back to having Badger Welding fix it. He has experience doing others.
