1968 Delta 88 or Custom

How do you tell the differance from a Delta 88 4dr hardtop and a Custom of the same model? Any insight would be great. Thanks Pat

The seat pattern and fabric are different. The chrome along the sides is wider on the Custom model with 2 black stripes imbedded as opposed to only 1 black stripe on the Delta 88 since the chrome is not as wide. The clock was standard on the Custom but optional on the Delta 88. On the dash, it will have a plaque identifying the model as either a Delta 88 or Delta Custom. Both models had beautiful interiors including a front seat centre armrest except for the Delta 88 4dr sedan(post). The Delta Custom only came in 2dr or 4dr hardtops with the 2dr having bucket seats available. The Delmont 88 had different upholstery and chrome trim as well. The Delta 88 seats were also available as upgrade on the Delmont.

Delta Custom:

Delta 88:

Note also the fender (& decklid) scripts are Delta Custom and Delta 88, respectively.

The sales brochures and dealer SPECS booklets pretty well cover the differences. Both are available free of charge on Wild About Cars.

Thanks for the info. I definately have the regular 88. It needs tires though. 14 inch are on the car but only the specialty outlets carry this size. In the owners manual under 88s it lists as an option 225R15. Does this also require a special rim or can I use the rims on the car. Currently has 235R75 14s. Thanks again

15" wheels and tires were optional for that car. Since larger 14" tires are becoming scarce, lots of guys are switching to 15, 16 or even larger wheels.
You can source 15" wheels to fit your 88 from any 69-76 full size GM car (except 69-70 Chevy) or any 5-lug Chevy or GMC full size 1/2 ton van or pickup. Or you can go with a custom wheel in just about any style & diameter you like.

Probably a dumb ? but if I go up to 15s, the hubcaps on the car will not fit, right?

If you're talking about full wheel covers, no.
You'll need 15" covers too, but there's lots of nice 15" Olds wheel cover designs.
