1975 Delta double hump crossmember

Good evening to all. I have pulled the engine from my 1975 Delta convertible. When I put it back in I want to add headers and a dual exhaust. Any recommendations for a set of headers and a crossmember that will allow for dual exhaust? The engine is a 350.

A 71 to 74 crossmember should work for you

Shouldn't any 71-74 GM B or C body crossmember be the same? They all used 350/375/400 transmissions, and bodies and underpinnings were very similar those years.

I'm not an expert on what the aftermarket offers for the 1971-76 cars, but if there's an aftermarket crossmember that fits a Caprice from those years, it will fit the Olds. Just be aware that convertibles used a fully boxed frame, so the convertible crossmember is not as wide as the one for hardtops and sedans. You MUST use a convertible crossmember.

EDIT: well, I can find aftermarket crossmembers for the 1965-70 B-body cars and for the 1977-96 cars, but not for the 1971-76 cars. Of course, these are just welded up steel tube. Not particularly difficult to make one. You can also buy a generic crossmember kit, cut to length, and weld your own.

Thanks for your help. I have thought about making one I was just trying to avoid that because im not the best welder. A car is no good when the tranny is behind the car..

Yeah, but the crossmember is a good place to practice. No one will see the snotty welds.
Seriously, it's only steel. If you don't like the weld, grind it out and run another bead. The only way to get better is practice.

Good news, I just ordered a double hump off of ebay. It came off a '72 Rivera GS. I found it on Craigslist first and was going to drive three hours to Chicago to pick it up, but the night before a buddy of mine found the same one on ebay that the guy forgot he had put on there. Now I just need to figure out which headers to use. Another one of lifes big decisions.

Thanks for the offer bigdooly, but I have already bought one. The have a fair price on it. I ended up paying about $140 plus shipping. Now I just need the machine shop to finish my engine. The have had it since March and haven't even started on it yet.

Don't get me started on waiting for an engine.
I am in the same boat. I sent heads out year and a half ago. The motor has been in the shop since September I decided on a roller cam, bla bla bla still waiting for it to be finished.
I bought an Olds powered Trans am for the wife. She hasn't driven it since 2019.

They are probably blaming COVID for the delay. The shop I have mine at is short handed which I get, but they say the boss will give me a call. I've been told that four times now. I saw the trans in your picture. It looks nice.

So I have a 1972 Delta 88, if I want to put duals on it will I need to mod the stock crossmember?

Honestly don't know. I do remember having. a1959 Olds 88 and the exhaust shop saying they couldn't do it.

Thanks!

Dual exhaust was a factory option on the 1972 Delta. Your crossmember already has the double humps.

The problem with the 59 wasn't the crossmember, it was the fact that the 394 required a specific driver side exhaust manifold for dual exhaust. That is completely unrelated to your current car. Frankly, there is pretty much nothing about that 59 that would apply to your 72.
