Question '58 88 VIN Tag Location?

Where would it be on a '58? Also, are there any other spots on the car where the VIN could be found? I'm interested in buying one, but the tag I'm told is missing...

Erik, I believe that is a metal tag and riveted to the left front A pillar of the car.

Yes, you are right Allan! The guy claimed it was missing. I went to look at the car today, and actually found it. It had fallen off and got stuck behind the hinge. The owner was very happy! Now.....do I buy the car? Was thinking of turning it into a "patina" rod. That would be the cheapest way to go without turning it into a project....http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/4136487171.html

Check this out...

Offer 2K and see if he'll take it. You're really handy with welding so the patching will be a breeze. I wouldn't turn it into a Gas Monkey patina pit. Way too nice a car for that. Very least this thing would be is a cool sleeper resto mod with an LS1.

The car has some obvious rust issues but appears to be relatively intact and mostly solid from the pics. I could see this car becoming this quite easily...

I know, but that's the argument I'm having with myself....I don't want a complete resto to do when I still have the vista to finish....the money it would take to do it right......let alone the time...
