60 Super88 Dash Pad

Anyone know how to fix or replace a dash pad on a 1960 Holiday Super88? Mine is really brittle and already has a few cracks in it. I'm afraid to touch it, and have been attempting to keep it moist with Armorall. I get the feeling that this will be a tough item to replace or fix. Let me hear it Olds lovers!

It can be done with 3m adhesive for interior use (better adhesion and heat resistance due to hot interiors) and good dense foam from a foam supplier that is in your fabric district. We have one of those in Philadelphia.
Shaping the foam like the original will be the difficult part, adhering the foam to the shell and adhering the cover material will be the easy part.

Armorall (silicone) supposedly will dry out vinyl.

I was told to use a leather cleaner and/or protectant for old vinyl.

Send it to "Just Dashes" to have it redone.

Yes, "Just Dashes" looks like the way to do it right. Although I'll probably have to sell my first born to pay for it. Thanks for the tip!

Nothing is wrong with doing it yourself. I never did one before but I took my time and researched it and did it myself! I have had interior specialist say that it was done as good as shops that do it day in and day out.

I was wondering if you have any info on how to remove the dash pad from the car?

I used Armorall on older British motorcycle seats and it rotted all the cotton stitching after a while. I used the original "Pledge" spray on furniture polish. It made vinyl motorcycle and car seats slippery, but it worked.

Shop manual for the 61 olds section BODY 17-1 page 481, is what I used. Do you have access to a manual for the car you have?

All in all I didn't think the job was hard when removing the dash pad but others may disagree depending on what their skill level is or motivating factors are. For me I have a high level of mech skills but not much $$$ to give to others to do the work for me so...

Need to remove dash pad on 1960 Olds Super88. Does entire dash need to be removed or can part where pad is installed come off separate? Thanks

Looks like the dash itself is welded to , and is part of , the body shell ;

The good news is that everything comes off the dash .
You may have to remove everything else first to get the pad off .
