Grand prix or G6. Is there any problems with these cars? What should i look for as far as repairs??? (like the old 3.1 blowing head gaskets, intake warpage etc?). I want to stay away from chev's and others... thanx

3.1 I think the intake leaking coolant into oil is the teal problem with these a 90 dollar fix I think head gaskets were replaced from poor diag. Not saying I've never replaced head gaskets on these but 90% was intake gasket failer

06-08 Grand Prix great car in my opinion but oil pans do leak on most usually not bad enough to drip on drive way
The g6 have link/ strut noise that drive some people bonkers also tend to leak oil from the oil filter housing gasket pretty easy fix

I have owned a few Pontiac's over the years, It could be just me but I have had very good luck with them. Next to my 76 Olds, I'm likely one of the biggest Pontiac fans in the CO forum. I still own a few and will never be without one. Repairs are not to bad, I have replaced the minor things that go, links, alternator , front tie rods, etc. Nothing to crazy. I would look for one with the 3800 series III in the 06-08's. Decent on gas with anuff power to get out and pass if need be.

These cars are made 2 miles from my home and I have owned 5 Commodore ( the car its based on) Utes and sedans all the V6 motor.
Not one has let me down and all faults have been silly things, the door switch not working and the steering wheel controls come to mind.
It is not uncommon for these engines to get to 350,000 k ( 220,000m)
before needing any sort of work at all.
I have just traded my series 11 VE ute at 100,000k and apart from scheduled servicing it has not required any repairs.
The best part for you guys in the US is all the driveline is US sourced and readily available.
They are durable cars and I would recommend them to anyone.

I read somewhere that Pontiacs started having major electrical problems in those model years.

I have had both. I leased a 2007 G6 V6 with the sport package, sunroof movable pedals and extra air bags. Nice car but hard to turn into slow corners, seemed like it was off kilter! Very fast with 225 HP 6 popper.

Puchased for my the girlfriend now wife a 2006 GP off lease with only 20K we both loved that car and still look at them time time. FYI locally there is a 2007 with only 37K at $8500 plain jane alloy wheels and that's about it. You can't beat that 3800 V6.

Our GP was pretty loaded like a GT1 no leather, dual exhuast and sunroof.
