Now I gotta fill those holes!

Just when you think you've see all the JC Whitney K-Mart add on's...
Can you imaging taking a drill to this trunk lid!?!
Ignore the trumpets & seat belts. It could be a nice car.

Dang!
that kinda sucks.
But the fix isn’t too bad…minus matching the paint.

The fix is simple, u just get some of the rubber plugs from the hardware store. Or maybe some clear silicone. good to go. U might even find some red electrical or duct tape that will work

You could always run some chevelle stripes down the deck lid. Blasphemy, I am well aware.

If he needed a luggage rack he should have at least gotten a vintage one, or put it on a Delta 88.

I'd almost get another decklid, run this as is, and slowly paint up the other lid, then you have options.

I would take that thing off and fill the holes and have the trunk repainted. Then I would cut that ugly rack up and put it in the recycle bin.

As a kid growing up in the '70's, I saw those luggage racks on a ton of cars. Can't imagine anybody putting one on a car these days. When I bought my '69 Cutlass S a few years ago, the previous owner had installed the typical aftermarket rear wing. I promptly removed it and it left 4 ~3/8" holes in an otherwise perfect decklid. I went to Home Depot and got 4 rubber washers and 4 plastic bolts/nuts. It's a low profile temporary fix that won't rust and keeps water out of the trunk.

It's interesting that an A-body convertible is one of the most desirable cars out there and the Foxbody convertible is one of the most despised. Maybe its the luggage rack....

My dad actually used the luggage rack when he went to Florida in the winter. There definitely isn't any room in those trunks

That cars on Hemmings at no reserve, currently at 12 grand, needs some interior and rust repair but a rebuilt drive train, never wrecked. If you could buy it for 15k that’s a deal
