30 years ago, I would have been able to say, send it to Jimmy's Radio service where I worked. But sadly they are no longer in business. Repairing tape decks is rapidly becoming a lost and forgotten ability. There are surely a few places left but I do not know them. I'm sure someone else here will be able to help.

Jeff's Professional Audio Repair 602-274-0794, Phoenix, AZ.
I just got back my Delco 1979 AM/FM/Stereo/8-Track/CB radio from them, job was well done.

Here's a thread I started inquiring about repair manuals for the radio in my 71. Maybe you could find a Sam's Photocraft or AC Delco manual for your Oldsmobile's radio.

One problem you'll get into is parts availability. Todd's Electronic in Greensboro NC did a Delco AM-FM-cassette for me several years ago and they mentioned then cassette parts were getting hard to find.

That is 100% correct, I've been told that by several repair shops

Thank you for your suggestions I will keep you updated as things proceed. I have been told by several companies that there is only a 50/50 chance of repairing it and it will cost $40.00 per hour.
