Qjet choke problem

Bought new divorce choke thermostat coil and put on my car.
I've been trying to hook my divorce choke up on Qjet. It seems that if I make the rod that goes from thermostat coil to choke linkage short enough to close choke flap all the way, when engine warms up, the choke flap won't open all of the way. And vice-versa.
How do I fix this problem? I'm no expert on Qjets, and need help please.

Also, what are y'alls thoughts on using port behind choke pull-off for vacuum advance?

Thanks,
Keith

Thats no Olds motor! It's... It's... A SBC!!!

Regardless of the make, I would give you the same advice - why not go see what the manual says? The Chassis Service Manual has a chapter on setting up the QuardaJet, whether it's the Olds manual or the Chebby manual.

There is really no way to install the spring wrong, as far as I recall, and the one in the picture looks like it is installed correctly. There is a bit of adjustment, and the manual will tell you just where to set it. This might not be the best place to get specific adjustment information for a Chebby carb.

Don't know how fresh your motor is, but when I was doing tear-downs for a rebuilder, found many intakes restricted or clogged solid from carbon through the crossover!
Center port shold be twice as hot as the rest of the manifold!
You could pull the manifold and clean it, or get an electric choke.
Unless, of course, you've a thicker carb base gasket - correct should be about 1/8" thick.
