1965 Holiday Coupe
Just got a 65 Cutlass also new to this site.
She has original 330, inter, transmission was rebuilt in 1988, 2 speed powerglyde.
What would be a good idea to add on first. I really don't want to do to much right now, maybe 3 or 4 speed tranny? headers? or just thro on flowmaster? I'm just adding a few peices to the interior headliner, light lenes, armrest.
What do you guys think?

Welcome it looks good. What you want to do with it depends on how you want to use it. There are some good threads about changing trans to manuel or an overdrive auto. By the way it is a jetaway trans not a powerglide. Powerglide is chevy. Don't feel bad I made the same mistake when I got a 68 cutlass.

Adding two more speeds to a 330 will seem like a LOT more power!
Just think about taking - off in second all the time = jetaway!
Performance and mileage will go up at least 10% - you'll love it!

Welcome, nice car!
Good news and bad news on the headers. Good news, there are some out there, bad news = big$$$$$$. Most with a 330 use stock manifolds or some cast iron aftermarket, and run duals.

Welcome, you've hit one of the best sites on the net for oldsmobile knowledge. If you're looking for more specific information as it relates to 64 and 65's try this forum as well.

Guys here specialize in just those years and you'll find parts are more difficult to source. Cheapest way to get a noticable differance is to change out the tranny. A TH350 will bolt in with no mods required and readily available about anywhere. My 2 cents

Nice looking car. For a fun driver and reasonable cost/effort:
Make sure the 330 is a solid starting point (compression check, tune-up, etc.)
If 2bbl carb now, swap intake and add 4bbl (Q-jet or Holley/Ebrock with vac secondaries)
Dual exhaust (headers optional and many say only marginal improvement on the street)
TH350 with shift kit
3:23 or 3:42 rear end with posi
Rear end probably provides biggest improvement in seat-of-the-pants performance.

Me personally would change to 200r4 trans over the 350. Would get an overdrive gear which would be helpful if you are going to drive alot. Doesn't seem much harder than a 350 swap.

You have a really nice coupe there! Are those the wheels with the removable wire basket?? I had a set of those when I was a kid! I love those wheels! We use to call them Poor Mans back in the day! IMO, go ahead and run a nice exhaust setup first. That was the very first thing I did when I got my 64 on the road.

DUal exhaust would be a great addition to your ride. FLowmasters are a good muffler! You can always add headers later, like I said they are available but really expensive. If your car has single exhaust now, all you need is blockoff plate for the crossover, any muffler shop can fab and install one.

Congrats and welcome. Just to clarify, Olds never installed a Powerglide from the factory. What you have is the Super Turbine 300, also called the Jetaway. Aside from also being a two speed automatic, this trans has exactly nothing in common with the Powerglide.

question
Do the Buicks & Pontiacs use the ST300? Is the Powerglide "Chevy-only"? Just curious. Thanks.
