1953 Olds 98

I stumbled across this 1953 Olds 98 a guy had listed for sale as a parts car. It's just too solid and cool to take apart. There are some rust issues but not too bad. From what I've gathered from finding things in the car. Was bought new in Chicago. Went to Wisconsin. Had the oil changed in 1971 at 42,000 miles. It must have been parked soon after. Someone had registered it in Wisc in 2007 and did some work to it (some rust repair and new brake lines it would seem.

At some point someone drug it to Ohio where they made off with the rear bumper, back seat and I would say the front mustache trim piece and replaced with a broken one. It didn't take long before we had it running (just off filling the carb). Trans go into gear also. It is now showing roughly 45,000 which I believe to be original. I had the wide whites laying around and they went on it. Plan is to get it road worthy and just drive it. I have a 53 Cadillac rear bumper I think we will fit. I'm sure I can find something for the back seat. We started to clean up the paint and it's the original so that's all we are going to do. Touch up a few places and clean up.

Looking Good! What are your plans, survivor, driver, or restorer. What ever you do, that is a good start. Keep your eye out on Evil bay and that chrome may show up....Tedd

Buick Super or Roadmaster, as well as Cadillac 62 series back seats should fit.
Measure them first to confirm .

My first car trip at a few days old was in a black 53 Ninety Eight sedan with blue interior. I've always liked them.

As my friends and I get older I have to admit that having a 4 door around to run to lunch or the parts store is kinda nice. No climbing over seats.

Keep in mind that everything could be 60+ years old and need replacement to be safe. Stopping stuff and anything made of rubber is most likely pretty tired.... Tedd
