1966 98 Hood Latch Tweak
For the others of you out there who have 1966 98's with the below-the-bumper hood latch lever, I have the tiniest of tweaks.
The factory vertical rod which actuates the hood mechanism is held in place at the latch by a typical GM spring steel clip. Per factory the rod goes in the lower hole and you slide the spring clip up over it with the retention tang going in the upper hole.
An alternative is to put the rod end in the upper hole and retain it with an E clip on the rod slot. Moving to the upper hole reduces the travel of the under bumper making it the tinest bit less effort to open the hood.
Like so, if anyone on earth cares except me:
Install your hood latch rod in the upper hole to reduce hood opening effort by just a little. Retain the rod with an E clip.
Anyway grabbed a shot of this and thought someone out there might enjoy this tiniest of usability tweaks.
cheers,
cf
