1970: will an AM/FM radio drop in AM car?

My '70 Olds 98 has a factory AM radio with dashboard speaker. Antenna is in the windshield.

Will a '70 Olds 98 AM/FM radio simply plug in to the wiring harness, or is more involved?

Thanks,
John

the Antennas all plug in the same way. If it is like the A-body cars the radio will swap in just fine, but... do you have the 70 AM/FM stereo unit with the extra amp that attaches to the stereo? That will have to get mounted as well

Yes, it has the extra amp. Does it get tucked up inside the dash, too? I haven't checked for available space up there.

The radio is a direct drop in. The "extra amp" as you call it was usually mounted by bracket up behind the glovebox. I guess you can make up a mounting bracket and put it where you want, so long as it doesn't interfere with anything else under the dash.

My car is a 72 so the stereo for it is all integrated into the single unit. Just lucky I guess. I have seen the schematic somewhere that shows how the mounting bracket works on this. If I find it, I'll post it for you.
