1977 Olds 98 Regency Coupe idiot lights
Well I am playing in the dash and have it off to fix my clock and lighter. So I was thinking about the dash lights.
Which ones should come on when you start the car.
All I see are the GEN, fasten seat belts and the oil light.
You can see where there is a HOT light, is that supposed to come on as a test too? It is not lit, only turned the key to on and did not start it.
Just wondering if it comes on? I would think so. I will change the bulbs if they are out but not sure if they come on when starting.

A lot depends on how the car's equipped. Generally on one with an Olds gas engine, GEN, OIL, BRAKE come on in RUN. Turn switch to START and TEMP lamp should test. All should go out after engine starts and you release parking brake, and not light again unless there's a problem.
On a Ninety Eight there could also be others like LAMP MONITOR. Diesels and V6 cars have their own set of warning lamps.
