'64 olds turn signal switch
I'm trying to get the turn signals to work. I got under the dash and pulled the column apart. Found a wire hanging down below and it looks like the switch is completely missing. I got the cable reattached to the indicator lever and that is now functional again, but there is nothing attached at the other end of the cable. Google has led me to three different switches all with various prices, and none of them list a 98, so I'm not sure which to get. Anyone replaced one of these?

First, Google wouldn't be my first choice as a reliable part fitment source, especially for a car like a 98 that is not popular to restore.
Second, none of those switches say "Ninety Eight" because they are for A-body cars. They do not fit the B/C-body cars.
The parts book shows that the switches for the full size cars are unique. For non-tilt the GM part number is 579500. With tilt wheel, the GM part number is 1993667. I doubt anyone reproduces this switch. Your only options are to find a good used one or an N.O.S. part. Write an Ebay search string and keep checking it until you find one. Good luck.

Group 2.895 p/n 579500 1964 EXCEPT F85 or tilt wheel.
2.895 p/n 1993667 64-65 88/SF/98 WITH tilt or cornering lamps. This is the one you need.
Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick also used these numbers. Not sure on Chevrolet as they offered tilt but not cornering lamps. Sometimes there's a jumper wire harness involved so check your service manual.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely not finding that right now. I was wondering if I could make the A body switch work. Seems simple enough of a design with the pull cable assembly. It would be just attaching it. Guess I'll keep my eyes open for one. Sucks it not there for some reason.

The 64 full size switch looks like this. You'll note that the terminals are different from those on the A-body switches you were looking at. This entire column is currently for sale on this site.

BeenThere has a complete 64 big car tilt column for sale and has pics of the t/s switch you need. Look at it and you'll see the cornering lamp terminals that the repop switch does NOT have.
You might could adapt it but you'd lose the cornering lamps for sure. That would be better than having no turn signals at all. I can't say it will work.
Parts book indicates 1993667 is also used on 1966 Tilt-Telescopic column with cornering lamps. There's also 1993597 63-66 tilt wheel EXCEPT F85 OR cornering lamps, which would work but again you'd lose the cornering lamps.
You may have get a good used switch.

Cornering lamp harness w "U" shaped plug should be up under there somewhere.
Looking at your t/s harness plug, you might be able to make that A-body switch work. The key is making sure the switch actuator pin on the column engages the "slider" in the switch.
Worst thing if it doesn't work you're out the cost of the switch. Some places there's no return on electrical parts; if that happens someone with an A-body will need the switch and you can recoup your money.
