'67 Olds 98 Vert. Value?

Newbie here...

I'm looking to buy my Dad's '67 Olds 98 Vert. It was his dad's, my grandfathers, and I'd like to keep it in the family. He doesn't drive it much and could use the space and money.

Sorry, no pictures.

It's a driver, in pretty good shape, with 85k, 425 engine (i think).

My guess is that it's between a #3 and #2.

I'm thinking it's a $9000 car. Any thoughts with this limited info and no pics. Thanks.

Jeff

If it has its original engine, then, yes, its a 425.

The Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of one of these in #2 (showroom) condition at $16,000. In #3 ("car show"), the value is about $10,400.

I'm not sure how you define these condition categories, but I think that few people would say that a car with 85,000 miles on it is in showroom condition unless it has been completely restored. If it's, as you say, a driver, than it's not a showroom-condition car, and the value for #3 condition, which it, at best, is more likely to be, is not too far off your estimate.

We would like to see some pictures.

Thanks for the quick response. Didn't know how many people belonged to this forum, as it looked a bit sparse. I'm usually over at ChevyTalk with my '65 Impala SS.

I haven't seen the car without a cover over it in several years. Never have really inspected it with a "fine tooth comb" either. I won't get a chance to see it before August, when i have a scheduled visit to see my dad (13 hr trip).

He is still on the fence whether he wants to sell it, but says I have first dibs. I'll see if he can email me some pics to share with everyone...

It is definately not "showroom", and is below a "show car", so it should be under the $10,400 value. Somewhere between a #3 & #4 then...

A #2 car is a very very nice car, most people off the street would think it was as new. To me there is a big jump from #2 to a #3 car and the price shows it.To find a 68/98 vert even as a driver is a good find and it's neat that you are trying to keep it in the family, doubtful you will ever regret this decesion.....Tedd
