Help me to de-code this 1958 Olds 98
My father in law has just bought a 1958 Oldsmobile 98. The car is a field find and has been sitting for decades, but he intends to restore it. The car has lost some parts and i would like to know about which options it has had. We would be glad if some one know about the RPO-codes on these cars and would like to help us.

Here's a bit more information:
Under style, the 58 is the model year; 3069D is the body style number for the 4 door sedan in the 98 series. (The code letters used for this style were DS.)
Under Body No, the L means that the body was assembled at the plant in Lansing. (In those days there were 10 body plants.)
The VIN number should be on a tag on the left front door pillar. It should begin with 589 followed by a letter. If final assembly was also in Lansing, the letter should be M. (The 58 = 1958; the 9 = 98 series) The remaining number is a serial number unique to your car. It was a 5 digit number. The first car was 01001. There were 8 final assembly plants.
If you should need the original paint stock numbers for the original paint on the car, they are: 2574-L for DuPont and A-793-G for Rinshed-Mason on the 90 (Victorian White); and 2799-L for DuPont and A-1061 for Rinshed-Mason on the 91 (Champagne Mist).
There were 10 colors available for the instrument panel.
There should be an engine unit number stamped on a pad on top of the center exhaust port on the left cylinder head. Engines for domestic use started with B001001.
The Hydra-Matic has a serial number tag on it. They started with number 058-1001.
Perhaps someone else can supply the remaining information.

Since they started each series VIN# with 01001 .....
19530 would be the 18,530th assigned VIN# for a '58 98 at Lansing, MI
They didn't use the bodies in direct BODY #/VIN # order, but it would be the 4923rd 98 4dr sedan ("Deluxe" ??) body at Fisher Body - Lansing, MI.
