Just picked up a 1966 Olds 98

Very excited about my latest purchase. Saw this on the local Kijiji site & couldn't pass it up for the price.

1966 Oldsmobile 98 LS

Hasn't been started or taken out of the previous owners garage in over 8 years. Body is in very good shape. Interior has a few small tears. Most importantly nothing is missing from the car & its NEVER been modified or molested in any way. Even has an AM/FM with the "Re verb" option.

Very nice looking car, the wheel covers on your car aren't bad either though. You definitely have yourself a landyacht there. Welcome to CO.

Congrats! Looks like the "real deal". If you want to change to the optional "turbine" wheel covers, they are not too hard to get. I have a few extras but they are only "drivers" - not super nice.

Does that boat have Cruise Control or power vent windows??

Thanks still trying to figure out what wheels or hubcaps to put on it though. I was going to buy a set of 1966 olds wire hubcaps on ebay but they got snatched up

So I have to come up with another plan. ANy suggestions???

The Ninety-Eight in my pic isn't actually mine, it's almost exactly what mine looks like though. I'll have to see if I still have extra hub caps, and pictures of them on the car.

I really like the ones you have in the picture there, are they beat up or something? You just don't like them?

They're the style that came with my Delta. I've got two that are rough, so if you're planning to part with those.....

You could always put Cragar SS wheels on your car. They look good on anything.

Yes it has factory headrests. It has black clock interior, power seats with LS embroidered into the seat backs.

That is a beautiful 98 you've got yourself there! Welcome to the club.

Can't wait to see more pictures of this beauty once you get to spend some more time with it.

I'll try this again! Don't know what happened to my first note. I had said that I, too, was waiting to see more pictures. I also said that I had '68 wire type caps on one of my cars. They look pretty sporty and don't interfere with the skirts like the '66 Cutlass wire caps with the spinners do. What part of the country are you located in?

Hey great looking car there! You should have taken your brother in law with you to look at it. Oh wait ;-)

I am glad to have you in the Olds family now too!

This car has so many power items on it compared to mine, it's insane :-)

The Ninety-Eights were great for that... when my dad bought the one we have now I was amazed at all the power equipment. I was only 14 or 15 then and didn't know that cars from the 60's had power anything haha. I know better now. The thing that still gets me though is the power seats. Half of the newer cars I've owned didn't have power seats.

I had to find a picture of a 66 Ninety-Eight with aftermarket rims on it. Obviously those are not cragars, but now I have an idea of how cragars might look on it. And is it just me or does the lack of four doors make this car look strange? The pic is from a for sale ad I found when I googled "1966 Olds Ninety-Eight". Even if the guy doesn't know what year his car is, he couldn't have missed by more than a year.

P.S. If you ever decide to sell it I call first dibs.

The car lives! A new starter and some fresh fluids later, it's running after 8 years! How exciting.. Now just have to get the new tires and brake parts changed and he'll see how it drives!

Picked up the tires on Monday. Still looking for a decent place to rebuild the master. At least the garage is free now.

Just dropped all the rims off today to get them sadnblasted as they were badly rusted. Throw a coat of paint on them & new tires that I just picked up & she will be good to go.

looks in great shape, I found a '62 just outside London, let me know if you
find any parts suppliers in our area, and I will reciprocate.
