Oil Pan

1983 98 Oldsmobile 307 V8

My father is looking for a oil pan for his 98. Everywhere I looked so far has the dipstick on the passenger side. He needs one that has the dipstick on the drivers side. Anyone have one or know where there is one?

It seems most online sources incorrectly list Chevy oil pans as working for your Olds 98. As you mentioned, the Olds 307 has the dipstick on the driver's side. Hopefully someone has the correct part number you need to order. Otherwise, you might have to get a used part, aftermarket part or have your current oil pan repaired. BTW, do you have an oil pan that's been damaged?

Stop looking at Chevy oil pans. Olds oil pans don't have a dipstick on any side. Here is one option (this is a big block pan with the baffle). And FYI, about half the photos in that listing on Jegs are reversed, so they "show" the dipstick notch on the wrong side. Ignore that - apparently their web people are all Chevy-centric.

Any 1964 - 1990 Olds V8 oil pan will work. Small block and big block pans are slightly different (big block has an internal baffle) but any one of them bolts up and clears the chassis.

Thanks for the info! I did read that about not looking at the chevy ones... the site you gave me still listed the dipstick as being on the passenger side... i will keep looking. Thanks for all the info and tips!

The link I provided is correct for every RWD Olds V8 built from 1964-1990. The fact that the vendor gets info wrong is common with Oldsmobiles. Do what you want.
