Wheel hub pattern on 98

Want to verify that the wheel hub pattern on my 1964 98 is the 5x5. Looking at replacing the wheels that came on the car that are a hidious 20" chrome wheel.

5x5 bolt circle is correct. Original wheels were 14" which presents tire availability issues. Even large 15" tires have gotten hard to find except in LT sizes.

Be aware that you also need to be certain that the center bore diameter of the wheel you buy is large enough to accommodate the hub on your 98. The speedo is driven off of the front driver's side wheel hub so the center cap or spinner of the wheels you locate need to be big enough to fit the hub.

You should be able to get 5x5" wheels at the salvage yard from a mid 90s Chevy 1/2 ton truck. Just double check the center bore diameter before buying a set.

Actually, the 15x7 wheels on the 1977-1990 B-body wagons are still relatively common and will fit.

Good info. I wouldn't have thought about the center hub sticking out.

Are you interested in aftermarket wheels or do you want to go back to original steel wheel covers?

I'll definately go with aftermarket. I'm not a fan of the original stuff on these, nor am I doing a classic restoration. Looking at either 17" or 18" staggard sets. 17"s are cheaper by about $30-$40/wheel and tires are less too since there is less rubber. Leaning toward the US mags Rambler u111.

No, for tires of the same outside diameter, the larger wheels mean LESS sidewall height and LESS rubber. Wheel diameter has nothing to do with tire outside diameter.
And don't assume that price equates to material cost.

Okay, bad choice of words, Not necessarily less or more rubber, correct. 18" just usually cost more for some reason.

Those wheels would look pretty good on your Olds, Post pics once you get them installed.

Well, I bought them yesterday. Staggard set. Little bigger meats in the back then the fronts. Should make it look pretty sweet. It already has a pretty good low stance, probably because the springs are shot, lol

Got the new shocks on and the new wheels. I think it needs lowered at least 2” for my style still. But this will do for now.

It looks good the way it is .
I would think twice about lowering it any more .
Speed bumps , curbs , and driveways make life miserable for anyone with a lowered car .

That's why airbags are a good option for what Jared wants to do with this car. Encounter a scraper, raise the car enough to clear it and then lower back to desired ride height.

Rims look great. What size tires did you mount on these rims? I have a 1968 Olds 98 and I am looking to upgrade to 15" rims.
