1956 Olds 88 Holiday Coupe LS3 Swap
Hi , a lot of work has been done since I bought the car a couple months ago .
Front clip was cut and replaced by a Fatmanfab clip.
Big block and trans are gone . LS3 is being build as we speak. 550 horses at the rear wheels. Yes it’s gonna be a rocket.
Car interior is gutted to replace the lousy done wiring harness .
New wheels arrived from Detroit Steel .
I better let the pics talk .
Thanks ,
Oliver

Not sure if it will be a ton of help but you can search for my 55 88 build thread in the non-Olds motor section. Fatman stub, ls2, 4l65E, lots of custom stuff.
One thing for sure, check the Fatman sway bar. I put mine away until I got to final assembly and then discovered that it wasn’t even close to bolting up. They didn’t have an answer but gave me some money back (after like 5 years....good company to work with) and I had to have a custom bar made ($).
Good luck, cool car!

Update:
The new upper control arms finally fit . Willwoods and R&P are installed .
Wheels arrived ( Conti’s 245/40/20 ) and they are smaller than the old ballons .
Fabricated panels for the RH airbox and the forward body mounts.
Engine is in its final stage and looks just plain sexy with the pulley system .
Going with a 4L80E due to high horsepower and torque .
Keep you guys updated ,
Olli

I am kinda new here as well and just found your thread. I am restomodding a 58 88 so all you are doing is interesting and helpful for ideas. I had thought about the body mount covers and seeing yours has convinced me to make some.
What is your opinions on the firewall brake conversion kit? Is it well made, fits like it should, etc? Is that from Battle Born Brakes?
Your work looks great, any updates?

Hi . It’s the battle born brake kit. It’s well made , ships fast and the guys are very helpful . I’ve ordered it on EBay .
I’ve only added some structural braces to the pedal bracket ( That’s the German engineer speaking ) Just in case the 650 horses need a emergency stop.
Waiting for my rear end housing to be delivered , so I can start with the 4 link . Gonna be a tight fit with the air shocks , gas tank and the exhaust .
Here are some new pics .
Someone needs a new project ? 😉
Wheels will have new clearance issues , even in low park mode.

Thanks for the update and brake kit info. I thought I saw a part in your installation that I don't see in the Battle Born pics. Looks like a good idea that will add support to the pedal bracket. I tend to over engineer also, but that's because I'm not an engineer.
Where is the electric wiper motor from? The only one I have found is Newport Engineering. And (sorry for so many questions) what is the item covering the wiper motor in the last pic? Also, does the firewall plate in the center enclose the wiper motor?
Thanks for your help and ideas.

The wiper motor is from Newport engineering.
‘It’s sticking out , so I will cover it with a German WW2 gas mask canister. That’s the item on the picture.
Not a theoretical engineer here. I learned my stuff on the go wrenching.

I don't know if you are going stock with the Batwing air cleaner, but that Krout canister will most likely rub on the Batwing, there is very little room between it and the wiper motor, just a thought.. Tedd

Sorry to hear it is slow going but it looks great. Trans looks like a pullout. Is the motor a pullout or a new crate motor? The motor looks incredibly clean if it is a pullout. What serp syetem is that?

Update :
Will start a new job in the fatherland and can’t continue the project .
Been locking around for a shop to finish her , but that’s nearly impossible ( nobody wants to work anymore , all shops are logged up - lack of staff)
Also trying to figure out if it’s even possible to register the car in Germany ( stricter rules )
Which leads me to maybe selling the whole project .
Still a big debate inside my head 🤪
Anyway starting to get rid of a lot of old spares and leftovers .
Working on pictures for the for sale section

So sorry to hear the news since it means you need to change directions with your project even though it means a new chapter in you professional life. Good luck in whichever direction you decide to go. I thought I might ask you how the NOICO was to install, easy, difficult, sticky, rigid?

Lay it in the sun or heat it a little up with a heat gun .
Thanks for your kind words.
