Early W30 OAI Air Cleaner ducts alternative
I have been scouring the internet for OAI ducts for my 67, 442 with OAI air cleaner and ducts but can't find anyone with the correct cloth covered 4" ducts in stock. All of the go to Olds parts places show out of stock and have been so for at least the last year i have been looking.
I have a set of originals, but they are wearing thin around the OAI fender hose clamps since i am constantly removing the air cleaner to work in the engine compartment. In fact, one of them wore a hole against the wire on one side making my search for an alternative more urgent.
So, i started searching the interwebs for something that would work and most pointed to ac or dryer ducts that were very spendy and an inferior product to the originals. PCV, plastic and foil type ducts just were not going to cut it. Finally, i stumbled across the following product and they turned out great in my opinion. They very obviously are NOT original but in my opinion are a far superior product especially on the durability side.
I just thought i would share my findings in case anyone else was having this issue. They are rubberized and heavy duty and i like the look of them as well. Note, i could only find them in 25' lengths but im not complaining as i have extra to boot. I will paste a link below but know that i have seen the price double on occasion and then go back down in a few days. I would advise not paying more than 154ish before taxes and shipping. Posting a pic of originals against new side by side. Let me know your thoughts on the look, good or bad. Hopefully the link works as well.
Thanks, Matt

Matt - From another '67 4-4-2 owner, I think they look great! 👍 From the pic, it looks like they are flexible enough to get them where they need to be while following the contour of the inner fender which is nice. The link worked fine. Nice find and nice job!

I like them to. My original intent was to use them for driving and put the old ones on for shows but i have since decided to just send it and take the inevitable pounding from the originality folks, which i enjoy anyway. It is a 67 Freemont 442 with no POP or proof it's a 442 with W30 stuff added, so i get a lot of negative attention from some which is all good.

Matt - I say phuque the naysayers and enjoy your car. My car is a Framingham car. I do not have a PoP, build sheet, or original window sticker, however I do have what for all appearances is an unmolested Cowl Tag with the 5V on it. Even though that Cowl Tag is clearly visible, I always get a few idiots at large shows that are adamant it can't be a real 4-4-2 either because of the automatic, or because the automatic is a column shift. They don't know Oldsmobiles from their own ****!
